Week 6: Lab Test 1

This week we're done with our first Lab Test...

This lab tests are for us to innovate and create a new taste 
of food that exist around the world....

Our choice is.....

Roti Jala



Objective:
  • To test the basic formula for Roti Jala and its filling


The basic formula for Roti Jala:
Ingredient:


1 cup               All purpose flour
3/4 cup            Water
1/2 cup            Fresh milk
1 nos               Whole egg
3 tbsp              Corn oil
1/2 tsp             Salt
2 to 3 drop      Yellow colouring

Method
  1. Mixed all the ingredient using a whisk, then strain the mixture to rid off the lumps.
  2. Preheat the 10" inch non-stick pan without using oil, then squeeze the mixture into the pan and form a net shape.
  3. Let it cook for a few minutes. 
  4. After the roti jala is cooked carefully remove from pan using a spatula.
  5. Serve it hot.

Final result:


Final evaluation:
  • The batter was not thick and resulting a thin layer of roti jala. We should reduce the water or maybe we can add more flour.
  • The butter chicken filling was too oily and salty because we had use too much amount of butter and salt. we should reduce the amount of butter and salt regardless how much amount of chicken we use to cook.
  • The apple caramel had the bitter sweet taste and it was good.
